Terrence McNally's The Lisbon Traviata is the next offering from the West Coast Ensemble (WCE) in Hollywood, CA.
Previews are Feb. 3-5, with an official opening slated for Feb. 6.
The play, about two friends who share an obsessive love of opera -- and more specifically, a fanatical passion for Maria Callas -- premiered Off-Broadway in 1989 with a cast including Nathan Lane, Anthony Heald, Dan Butler and John Slattery.
The WCE production features Andy Hirsh, John Nielsen, Scott Ryden and Don Shenk.
McNally's more recent plays include Master Class, about Callas, plus Love! Valour! Compassion! and the libretto for Ragtime. The Lisbon Traviata is directed by Peter Grego, winner of a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award for WCE's Eleemosynary.
The Lisbon Traviata runs through Mar. 29. The theatre is at 522 N. La Brea (between Melrose and Beverly Blvd.). For tickets, $20, call (213) 525-0022.
