How the tables have turned for Jason Bowcutt! The actor gained acclaim last season for playing post-pubescent psycho Nathan Leopold in Off Broadway's Never The Sinner. Now he's playing a victim: the beguiled and gullible Evan Wyler in Douglas Carter Beane's comedy, As Bees In Honey Drown.

This weekend ends the scheduled run of Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' mounting that Off-Broadway hit. Previews began March 24 for an official opening March 26 and a run through April 18.

As Wyler, Bowcutt plays a writer seduced by the style of the Auntie Mame/Sally Bowles-like Alexa Vere de Vere, played by Carolyn Swift. Ward Duffy, Tracy Holliway, Jessica Jaques and Daryl Vaughn round out the cast of Douglas Carter Beane's satire of celebrity.

First staged by New York's Drama Dept., the play transferred to the Lucille Lortel Theatre for a healthy run.

Steven Woolf directs the St. Louis mounting, which features sets and costumes by Bill Clarke and lighting by Glenn R. Dunn, with sound design by David Van Tieghem. Beane's next play, The Country Club, is likely to reach New York this-coming season.

For tickets and information on As Bees in Honey Drown at Repertory Theatre of St. Louis call (314) 968-4925. Beane's comedy ends the St. Louis Rep season, with operas taking over the space during the summer.
