Crosby received a 1995 Tony nomination for Smokey Joe's Cafe, in which she sings such standards as "Fools In Love" and "Hound Dog." Most recently she played Effie in the 1997-98 tour of Dreamgirls. Her recordings include "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and "Lady BJ Sings Lady Day, A Tribute To Billie Holiday."

Crosby will stay with Smokey Joe until it closes in January. There was talk of her going to London in Dreamgirls after that, but the producer of that project, Irving Siders, died recently, so those plans are up in the air.

For tickets ($10 plus 2-drink minimum) and information on B.J. Crosby at the Sugar Bar (owned and founded by musicians Ashford and Simpson), call (212) 579-0222.
