The Coconut Grove Playhouse confirms it will be closing Eleanor: Her Secret Journey on schedule Jan. 30, making this a last chance notice to see Jean Stapleton as America's most beloved First Lady.
Tony and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Jean Stapleton has portrayed Eleanor Roosevelt in Eleanor: Her Secret Journey at the Coconut Grove Playhouse since Jan. 4. The limited engagement opened Jan. 7.
Popular with stage and television audiences alike, Stapleton created the classic role of Edith Bunker on television's "All in the Family." In Eleanor, the actress revisits the stage role she established in the world premiere of Rhoda Lerman's play in February of 1998 at the Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center in Nyack, NY.
Described as a revealing portrait of Eleanor Roosevelt's challenges and triumphs, the Coconut Grove production is presented on the company's Adams mainstage.
Several discounted tickets are available, but full price adult tickets are $40 for Friday and Saturday night performances. For tickets call Ticketmaster, or the Coconut Grove Playhouse box office at (305) 442-4000. For additional information visit cgplayhouse.com. -- By Murdoch McBride
