Life is a Pizza!, the second piece in Emelin Theatre's summer series, ends performances July 24 at the upstate New York venue. Performances began July 9. The show's co-writer, James Shanta, directs. Steve Scionti stars in his one-man look at an Italian American family, beginning at the funeral of his immigrant grandfather and flowing back and forth in time as he portrays a whole range of Sicilian relatives. Pizza! won two Los Angeles Drama Logue Awards for Best Performance and Best Writing in 1997 after a run at the Zephyr Theatre. Shanta and Scionti are currently developing a screenplay of Pizza!.
