After tackling the difficult task of adapting a Caryl Churchill television play to the stage, NY's Monster[less] Actors has followed up with a little bit of Buchner in Woyzeck, ending its scheduled run May 15 after opening April 24.

To examine a text that many consider to be a forbearer to post-modernism (probably because of its fragmented status), Monster[less] has assembled an ensemble cast, letting each actor play multiple roles. Also, in a confusing (or illuminating?) move, Monster[less] has cast the a woman to play the title role. Victoria Pero will direct.

Monster[less] Actors was formed in 1995 and has produced works from a variety of playwrights, including John Patrick Shanley, Jeffrey Jones and Constance Congdon.

Woyzeck will be performed at the Currican Theater (154 West 29th St), April 24 - May 15. For tickets ($12-$15) or more information, call (212) 462-9279.
