Now in its fifth and final week at the Palace Theatre, Minnelli on Minnelli, Liza Minnelli's tribute to her father, the late director Vincent Minnelli will close as scheduled Jan. 2.

Tickets are still available for some shows, including the Dec. 28 performance this evening which will be recorded by producer Phil Ramone for Angel Records.

As reported earlier today, on Dec. 29, "Entertainment Tonight" will broadcast a special segment it taped during the Dec. 27 show at the Palace. The ET segment will be shown in New York on CBS Channel 2.

In October, at a Radio City Hall press conference, Minnelli said she could not deny having struggled with certain problems, including alcohol abuse, but insisted that she was ready and able to work.

"You come through this," Minnelli said. "You go on -- and you keep on going." Having undergone throat and hip surgery, Minnelli stressed at the time that when she didn't work it was "never because I wouldn't, only because I couldn't -- and now I can."

If her Palace run continues unbroken, Minnelli will have performed not only all of her scheduled 24 performances but two additional dates as well. Recent feedback on the show is that it has improved remarkably since its opening Dec. 8, indicating that Minnelli has made progress dispelling the skepticism surrounding her Broadway comeback.
