Last Chance to catch Long Beach, CA's International City Theatre's mounting of A Grand Night for Singing at the Center Theatre. The show, which began previews June 15 and opened June 18 ends its scheduled run July 11.
The second offering of ICT's 1999 season, the musical is billed as "a fresh look at the songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein" and is directed by Jules Aaron, with musical direction by Michael Farrell and choreography by Lee Martino.
Featured in the cast are Michael Dawson Connor, Robert Marra, Stefanie Morse, Jessica Pennington and Jennifer Stein.
Conceived by Walter Bobbie, the revue earned mixed reviews and two Tony Award nominations when it played in New York.
The team of Rodgers & Hammerstein earned 34 Tony Awards, 15 Academy Awards, two Pultizer Prizes, two Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award. In 1999, they were commemorated on a U.S. postage stamp.
