The Tubes' Fee Waybill will do the "Time Warp" no longer after Sept. 12 when the Barn Theatre closes its production of Rocky Horror Show. Waybill leads the cast as the nefarious, cross-dressing Dr. Frank 'N' Furter. It's the the fifth time since 1990 that director Brendan Ragotzy has brought the Richard O'Brien musical to the Barn stage.

Waybill, ne John Waldo Waybill, began his musical career as a roadie with the Red, White & Blue band before that band combined with another in Arizona and formed The Tubes. A lead vocalist for the group whose stage theatrics spawned some 11 albums, Waybill still writes songs for artists like Richard Marx, Vixen and Toto and still performs with The Tubes. Waybill's acting credits have included "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and appearances on SCTV and MTV as a guest VJ.

The Rocky Horror Show, which spawned the 1975 cult classic, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," is the story of two innocent, newly engaged youngsters, Brad and Janet, who take refuge in a spooky mansion when their car breaks down. There, in a spoof of classic horror and science fiction, they meet Dr. Frank 'N' Furter, lingerie-clad mad scientist, who, along with his alien domestics Riff Raff, Magenta and Columbia, is hard at work on his perfection creation, the blond boy toy, Rocky. Songs in the O'Brien score include "The Time Warp," "Sweet Transvestite," "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" and "Wild And Untamed Thing."

Also in the cast are Dan Black (Eddie), John C. Brown (Brad), Scott Burkell (Riff Raff), Courtney Ell (Columbia), Anjanette Hall (Janet), Jennifer Kapitan (Magenta), Howard McBride (Dr. Scott) and Eric Parker (Rocky).

The design team includes Dusty Reeds (set), Elaine Kauffman (costumes), Brian Collins (lighting) and Aaron Morse (sound). David Jenkins is the musical director. For tickets ($25-$22.50), call the Barn Theatre at (616) 731-4121. The Barn Theatre is located on the web at http://www.barntheatre.com.
