A modern adaptation of Aristophanes' Lysistrata, the new musical introduces a hapless basketball team and its cheerleaders, who come up with a "Just Say No!" campaign to inspire victory. Voca People (Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre). Catch the Voca People before they transfer to New World Stages (beginning Feb. 16). The production is described as a "musical event [that] combines vocal sounds, a cappella singing, comedy and beat box. In Say Goodnight Gracie, "theatre audiences take a guided tour through an American century told through the eyes of George Burns (Joel Rooks) who savored each day from his impoverished youth on the lower East side, to his career in Vaudeville, his marriage to Gracie Allen, their rise to success on stage, screen, radio and TV, and finally George’s 'second time around.'" The Cherry Orchard (Off-Broadway at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater). First presented in 1904 at the Moscow Art Theatre, The Cherry Orchard was Chekhov's final play. With this new production, CSC completes its acclaimed Chekhov Cycle, which has included The Seagull, Uncle Vanya and Three Sisters.
