It's a Bird...It's a Plane…It's Superman (Off-Broadway at New York City Center). The City Center Encores! concert production of It's a Bird...It's a Plane…It's Superman, based on the comic strip "Superman," stars Edward Watts in the title role. The Dance and the Railroad (Off-Broadway at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center). Ruy Iskander and Yuekun Wu are at the center of David Henry Hwang's The Dance and the Railroad, the play about Chinese workers forging the American Transcontinental Railroad, in a new Off-Broadway Signature Theatre Company staging. May Adrales directs the play in which "two Chinese workers struggle through poverty and hunger to reconnect with the traditions of their homeland," according to Signature. Visit

Silk Stockings (Off-Broadway at The York Theatre Company). The York Theatre Company's new Musicals in Mufti presentation of the 1955 Cole Porter musical Silk Stockings, inspired by the film "Ninotchka" and featuring Erin Davie as a Soviet watchdog whose heart is melted by an American, played by Ben Davis, in Paris, plays March 22-24. Silk Stockings, based on Ernst Lubitsch's satiric romantic comedy, "uses the plot and characters of the film to launch a hot romance during the height of the cold war," according to York. The score includes "All of You," "Paris Loves Lovers" and "As On Through The Seasons We Sail," among other songs, plus an interpolated Porter song — "What Is This Thing Called Love?" Visit

The North Pool (Off-Broadway at The Vineyard Theatre). Stephen Barker Turner and Babak Tafti appear in the New York City premiere of Rajiv Joseph's The North Pool, a drama about tension between a high school principal and a Middle-Eastern-born transfer student. According to the Vineyard, "In the psychological drama The North Pool, a high school principal and a Middle-Eastern-born transfer student engage in a politically and emotionally charged game of cat and mouse, with dangerous consequences."
