Having already enjoyed an extension on its original schedule at the Apollo, Christopher Luscombe's production of Noel Coward's Star Quality, in which Penelope Keith plays a Gertrude Lawrence-style stage star, will close on March 23.
The production is an entertaining glimpse at the backstage politics involved on putting on a play in the 1950s. In some respects, of course, the theatre politics are as applicable today as they were then, but nowadays even the grandest of leading ladies wouldn't turn up to rehearsals in a hat and gloves...
