News Last Five Years Added to Denver Center Subscription Series for Early 2008 Denver Center Attractions will produce composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown's rueful two-actor musical The Last Five Years, about the dawn and disintegration of a marriage, in the intimate Garner Galleria Theatre Feb. 5-June 29, 2008.

Ray Roderick (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, The Taffetas) will direct. The official press opening is Feb. 9.

No casting has been announced for the Brown (Parade, Songs for a New World) show, which "chronicles the five-year relationship between two New Yorkers, struggling actress Cathy and promising writer Jamie, from their first meeting to their last goodbye."

The marriage story is told from both points of view — "Jamie's story begins at the first meeting and follows through to the couple's ultimate breakup, while Cathy relates the story in reverse, from falling out of love back to the first spark of romance."

Denver Center Attractions will hold auditions for its Actors' Equity production of The Last Five Years Oct. 19 in The Garner Galleria Theatre.

The characters sing together only once — in the middle of the show, at their wedding. A cast album preserves the score, as sung by its Off-Broadway cast, Norbert Leo Butz and Sherie Rene Scott.

The Last Five Years is being offered as a part of the 2008 Denver Center Attractions subscription series.
