News Latest Rinne Groff Play to Get Workshop In Manhattan in June Playwright Rinne Groff, whose Ruby Sunrise emerged as a hit of the recently-ended Humana Festival at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, will see her latest play workshopped at the Obie-winning Off-Broadway company Clubbed Thumb's annual Summerworks festival.

The new work, titled Of a White Christmas, will play six performances in June. Summerworks is typically held at the Ohio Theatre on Wooster Street in Soho. No official announcement of the festival line-up has been released. The Ruby Sunrise was described by Humana thusly: "This comedy tells the story of an industrious teenage runaway with a knack for dismantling and reassembling every electronic device she can get her hands on. Determined to realize her dream of inventing something like no one's ever seen — television — Ruby is convinced that her vision will change the way people look at the world. Starting on an Indiana farm in 1927 and jumping to a McCarthy era New York TV studio, The Ruby Sunrise charts the course of a phenomenon — from early idealism to anti-communist censorship and commercial compromises."

Sunrise will next be produced May 14-June 27 at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island.

Groff has had a couple Off-Off-Broadway critical hits with Jimmy Carter was a Democrat and Inky.
