News Laughing Liberally Wrangles Rep. Rangel to Poke 2006 in the Eye Democratic Congressman Charles B. Rangel will appear in the stand-up comedy event Laughing Liberally — the 2006 Year-in-Review show — at New York City's Town Hall 8:30 PM Dec. 30.

"We're so excited to have Congressman Rangel as one of our featured guests for our end-of-year show," stated Laughing Liberally co-founder and creative director Justin Krebs. "Anyone who has seen just 30 seconds of the Congressman knows that he combines a brilliant mind with a sharp wit. We can't think of a better person to make sure that 2006 closes with some laughs at conservatives' expense."

Rep. Rangel represents New York's 15th Congressional District, comprising East and Central Harlem, the Upper West Side and Washington Heights/Inwood. He recently made headlines advocating the reinstatement of a military draft.

Rep. Rangel said in a Nov. 21 statement, "As long as Americans are being shipped off to war, then everyone should be vulnerable, not just those who, because of economic circumstances, are attracted by lucrative enlistment bonuses and educational incentives.

"Even before the first bomb was dropped, before the first American casualty, I have opposed the war in Iraq. I continue to believe that decision-makers would never have supported the invasion if more of them had family members in line for deployment. "

Also featured at Laughing Liberally's 2006 Year-In-Review will be President Bush impersonator James Adomian, Jim David, Dean Obeidallah, Reno, Katie Halper and Lee Camp, with music by Jamie Jackson. According to the producers, "Laughing Liberally is the comedy show that combines standup comedy, music and multi-media presentation, all geared to 'save democracy one laugh at a time.'"

The show has previously played in New York at Town Hall, in Los Angeles at the Wadsworth Theater as well as engagements in Boston and Las Vegas at the Yearly Kos Convention.

It is produced by Eric Krebs in association with Living Liberally, a liberal activist organization.

Tickets are $20, $35 and $50, and are available at (212) 307-4100 or www.laughingliberally.com.
