News Laughing Room Only's Johanson to Direct It's a Fabulous Life Musical Robert Johanson — the director of Jackie Mason's latest Broadway entry, Laughing Room Only — will helm the new musical It's a Fabulous Life in South Florida.

David Sexton's musical premiered during a 2001 Christmas concert at the Colony Theatre featuring the South Beach Gay Men's Chorus. Richard Jay Alexander directed that sold-out premiere version, which received such acclaim that Sexton has now expanded the script into a full-length musical. It's a Fabulous Life — featuring a score by Sexton, Andrew Sargent, Eric Alsford and Albert Evans — will play the Teatro Avante in Coral Gables, FL, Dec. 12-Dec. 21. The musical is a take off on the classic holiday film "It's a Wonderful Life." According to production notes, "The lead character, Joe, is having a very rough holiday season, writing and starring in The Lavender Players’ production of Randolph The Rainbow Reindeer. Family tensions and backstage backstabbing cause him to wish he had never been born gay! An Angel named Arthur comes and shows him how things would be different if he had been born straight." The cast will include Bill Yule, Nicholas Richberg, Edison Farrow, Ezequiel Hernandez, Jerry Chasen, Brian Ricci, Frank Ricigliano, Mark Akens, David Sexton, Ruben Angel Pinon and Andres Alexis with Maryel Epps as The Diva Angel.

The Teatro Avanate is located at 235 Alcazar Avenue. Tickets are available by visiting www.itsafabulouslife.com.
