News Laura Esterman Stars in New England Premiere of Sweet's Imperatives, Sept. 9-25 Off-Broadway veteran Laura Esterman will star in the New England premiere of playwright Jeffrey Sweet's Immoral Imperatives, set to grace the stage at Cape Cod's Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre Sept. 9-25.

It's a rare east coast sighting for Sweet, one of the most prominent playwrights of the Chicago theatre scene. Sweet's many plays include Porch, Ties, The Value of Names, With and Without, Flyovers, The Action Against Sol Schumann, Immoral Imperatives and Bluff, which all had their world premieres at the Victory Gardens Theatre where he serves as one of the resident playwrights.

Immoral Imperatives is about a retired professor and his wife who move to the Florida Keys, where an old friend is soon invited to live with them, and, later, invited to become much more than a housemate.

Esterman has appeared to regular praise in such dramas as Marvin's Room, Good as New, Cranes, The Wax, Freedomland and, most recently, as Sarah Bernhardt in Duet. She previously appeared at WHAT in Ruby Tuesday.

Sharing the stage will be Malachi Throne (TV's "It Takes a Thief," "Star Trek," "The West Wing"), W.T. Martin and Tanya Clarke. James Glassman will direct.

Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre is located on Mayo Beach next to the Wellfleet Town Pier, in Wellfleet, MA. For information, call (508) 349-6835.
