PBS’ annual July 4 celebration, A Capitol Fourth, broadcast live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol building, airs from 8 PM to 9:30 PM ET; check local listings.

Two-time Emmy nominee John Stamos hosts the evening, which features two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes, Grammy winner Carole King with the Broadway cast of Beautiful, including current title player Vanessa Carlton; Tony nominee Keala Settle (Waitress, The Greatest Showman), stage and screen star Vanessa Williams, electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling, Grammy nominee Lee Brice, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat with her new band Gone West, Grammy-winning Gospel vocalist Yolanda Adams, 2019 American Idol winner Laine Hardy, singer Angelica Hale, R&B legends The O’Jays, and this year’s winner of The Voice, Maelyn Jarmon, performing the National Anthem.

The performers are backed by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of pops conductor Jack Everly.

The Sesame Street Muppets will also perform a medley of patriotic favorites and iconic songs from the children’s television series, currently celebrating 50 years.

The concert will pay tribute to our men and women in uniform with a performance by the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band and host Stamos.

The program will be capped off with fireworks and a rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” complete with live cannon fire provided by the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery. Also participating in the event: the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, Members of the Armed Forces carrying the State and Territorial Flags, the Armed Forces Color Guard provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C., the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music.
