News Lauren Kennedy to Host Jan. 22 New Voices Concert with Songs by Kirshenbaum The third season of the acclaimed Monday Nights, New Voices series will begin Jan. 22 at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

Lauren Kennedy, most recently on Broadway in Monty Python's Spamalot, will host the evening, which will feature the talents of Jessica Lanzetta, Mick Bleyer, Nick Dothee, Philip Drennen and Melanie Burg. Show time is 7 PM.

David Kirshenbaum, who wrote the score for Summer of '42, will be the evening's guest composer and will accompany the singers on selections from his songbook. Barbara Anselmi is musical director.

Composer Scott Alan launched the Monday Nights, New Voices series to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York."

Lauren Kennedy played the Lady of the Lake in the Tony-winning musical Spamalot. She covered the role of Daisy Hilton in the Broadway production of Side Show and also appeared in the New York companies of Sunset Boulevard and Les Misérables. Kennedy starred in The Rhythm Club and was also a part of the early incarnations of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, playing the role that would be played Off-Broadway by Sherie Rene Scott, when Kennedy crossed the Atlantic to star in the National Theatre's revival of South Pacific. Kennedy also appeared in The Ten Commandments: The Spectacle Musical, and her debut solo CD is titled "The Songs of Jason Robert Brown."
