Off-Broadway News Lea DeLaria to Host Obies for Another Year The 62nd annual ceremony celebrating Off-Broadway theatre will be held May 22 at Webster Hall.

The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice have announced that Lea DeLaria will return to host the Obie Awards for the third consecutive year. The 62nd annual ceremony celebrating Off-Broadway theatre artists will be held May 22 at Webster Hall.

“Lea DeLaria has come to personify the best of Off-Broadway; she’s smart, edgy, and charges way less than she’s worth,” said Heather Hitchens, the president of the American Theatre Wing, in a press statement. “At this point, we consider her family, and we are delighted to have her back.”

Judges for the this year’s Obie Awards will include Village Voice columnist Michael Feingold, Obie and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, Entertainment Weekly theatre critic Melissa Rose Bernardo, Obie winners J. Smith Cameron, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Darius de Haas, and Village Voice theatre critic Miriam Felton-Dansky.
