News Leading Actors of Matilda and Pippin Will Make Solo 54 Below Debuts Tomorrow Ben Thompson and Mike Schwitter, leading actors of Matilda the Musical and the revival of Pippin, respectively, will make their solo 54 Below concert debuts Aug. 25.

Schwitter, who played Lewis and understudied the role of Pippin, will kick off the evening at 54 Below at 7 PM. Audiences can expect Schwitter "belting out some of his favorite songs and mashups from Broadway to jazz to pop/rock."

Following Schwitter's concert, Thompson, who played Miss Trunchbull in Matilda, will take the stage at 9:30 PM. He will "take the audience on a genre-bending sonic journey through some of his favorite songs – spanning rock, rap and punk, to Broadway, jazz and even some original tunes."

Thompson will be joined by special guests Gerard Canonico (American Idiot, Spring Awakening), Nicholas Christopher (Motown the Musical, Rent), Brian Charles Johnson (American Idiot, Spring Awakening), Tamika Lawrence (Book of Mormon, Matilda, If/Then), Donald Webber, Jr. (Motown the Musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me) and his wife, Kat Nejat (West Side Story, Lysistrata Jones).

The concert will feature musical direction by Michael Gacetta (Matilda, Book of Mormon) and a four-piece band.
