A play by Mike Leigh, the highly acclaimed British film writer/director (Secrets and Lies), is coming to the Odyssey Theatre in L.A. Ecstasy opens Jan 10 and runs through March 11. This Roadworks Production played in Chicago a year ago to great reviews and packed houses. A different production of the play was seen Off-Broadway two seasons ago.
A company spokesperson described Leigh's play as "a heart- piercing comedy/drama about British working class life."
Directed by Abby Epstein, Ecstasy is co-produced by Ron Sossi and David Mills of the Odyssey Theatre. Featured in the cast are Lance Baker, Debbie Bisno, Scott Denny, M. Darlene Hunt, Nick Offerman and Rachel Singer.
