The New York premiere of Warren Leight's Glimmer, Glimmer and Shine, with John Spencer recreating his West Coast performance, began previews May 1 under the direction of Evan Yionoulis, who directed the play at the Mark Taper Forum earlier this year.

The Manhattan Theatre Club production, in association with Mark Taper Forum, opens at Stage I at City Center May 22, with new-to-the-production cast members Scott Cohen, Brian Kerwin (Lips Together, Teeth Apart) and Seana Kofoed (MTC's The Memory of Water, An Experiment with an Air Pump). A 10-week run is slated.

John Spencer, of TV's "The West Wing," reprises the role of Martin in the play about twin brothers. Leight penned the Tony Award-winning Side Man. The new play "tracks the powerful reconciliation of two brothers who share as much tension, dissonance, and wonder in their lives as the music they once made," according to production notes.

Designers are Neil Patel (set), Candice Donnelly (costume), Donald Holder (lighting), Jon Gottlieb (sound) and Evan Lurie (original music).

Tickets are $55 and can be reserved by calling (212) 581-1212. MTC is at 131 West 55th Street. Visit the website at www.glimmerandshine-mtc.com. *
