A Lillian Hellman Prize in Drama winner, Liza Lentini's work centers on "care giving, devotion and losing one's self in a self-imposed torture of the day to day," according to press notes. The Euthanasist will play a limited engagement through June 15. Previews began May 29. Monika Schneider stars as the mysterious euthanasiast whose testimonials illuminate her relationship to the living and those who wish to die. Schneider recently replaced "All My Children" actress Sabine Singh in the role of the euthanasist. Singh, who departed the production due to scheduling conflicts, had originally been announced to appear in the title role.
Alan Miller stages the drama with set design by Adam Dugas and lighting design by Diana Kesselschmidt. Paul Cantelon, who scored the films "Everything Is Illuminated," "The Other Boleyn Girl," and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," has penned original music for the production.
A graduate of Toronto's Ryerson University, Schneider most recently presented her solo show, Nevil, at Ryerson's New Voices festival and fringe festivals throughout Canada.
