News Les Miz Star Enters Broadway Spotlight January 13 Lauren Kennedy, who is currently starring as Fantine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, will go it solo on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Ars Nova Theatre.

Kennedy is the latest offering in the Broadway Spotlight Series, which presents concert evenings with stars of the Broadway stage. Others who have taken part in the series include Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley and former Renters Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel.

Pianist Georgia Stitt will accompany Kennedy, who will offer selections from her upcoming Jason Robert Brown CD as well as some of her other musical theatre favorites. Show time is 8 PM.

Gordon Greenberg, artistic director of the Spotlight Series, recently explained, "This is an incredible opportunity to see some of Broadway's most exciting young talent as individual performers in an up-close and personal environment.  For about the cost of a movie, audiences get a completely original evening with a major talent.  We are committed to offering this sort of an intimate platform to performers, composers and lyricists who wish to explore new material in a comfortable setting."

Lauren Kennedy covered the role of Daisy Hilton in the Broadway production of Side Show and also appeared in the New York company of Sunset Boulevard. She starred in the still-Broadway-bound The Rhythm Club and was also a part of the early incarnations of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, playing the role that would be played Off-Broadway by Sherie Rene Scott, when Kennedy crossed the Atlantic to star as Nellie Forbush in the National Theatre's revival of South Pacific. Kennedy's all Jason Robert Brown solo CD is due in stores in March on the PS Classics label.

The Ars Nova Theater is located at 511 W. 54th Street in New York City. Tickets are priced at $12 and may be purchased through SmartTix (www.smarttix.com) and by phone at (212) 206-1515.
