News Leslie Odom to Join Hamilton Exodus July 9 He announces his departure a week after winning the Tony Award for Best Actor.

Another of Hamilton's golden leading players will depart with multi-award-winning show July 9. Leslie Odom Jr., who won the Tony Award as Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance as Aaron Burr June 12, will join creator/star Lin-Manuel Miranda and leading lady Phillipa Soo in departing the cast that day.

He made the announcement during a Facebook Live broadcast midday June 19.

Odom said, “It has just been the most completely wonderful, totally healing and inspiring experience from beginning to end. I will never forget the people that I've met here. I will never forget all of you...I can't wait to see all the guys that come after me and show me [more] about Burr.“

His replacement was not immediately announced.

Odom said June 13 that he was still in negotiations to stay with the show. Those apparently were not resolved to his liking. He released a a solo jazz album June 10. On June 17 he told the Associated Press on Friday, that he would like to focus on the music side of his career. However he has not announced his specific next step.
