The London opening marks the 50th anniverfsary since The Beatles released their first single "Love Me Do" in October 1962. The show has been created out of the global phenomenon Rain that ran on Broadway in 2010-11, and according to press materials uses "dazzling video footage to tell the story of the band's meteoric rise from their humble beginnings in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the height of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces." With a song stack that includes such classics as "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "Hard Day's Night," "Day Tripper," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Strawberry Fields," "When I'm 64," "Hello Goodbye" and "Get Back," this show marks the first time that the Grand Theatrical Rights to The Beatles' back catalogue have been granted by Sony/ATV for a West End production.

It is produced by Jamie Hendry Productions, Annerin Productions, Rain Productions, BB Promotion, MagicSpace Entertainment and Julian Stoneman Associates. Annerin Productions is a division of Jeff Parry Promotions whose recent productions include Rain – A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway. Rain Productions is Mark Lewis, Joey Curatolo, Joe Bithorn and Ralf Castelli, who originated Rain in the early 80s as a touring show and developed their production for the theatrical market, taking it to Broadway in 2010-11, where it played first at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre before transferring to the Helen Hayes.
