News Life of Lion King's Jason Raize Celebrated April 8 at New Amsterdam A memorial service celebrating the life of actor Jason Raize will be held at the New Amsterdam Theatre, where Raize made a splash as Simba in The Lion King, 4:30 PM April 8.

Friends and family will remember Raize's work, life and spirit. The memorial service is open to the public.

As previously reported, Jason Raize Rothenberg died Feb. 3 in Yass, Australia. He took his own life.

Born July 20,1975, he lived in the Oneonta, NY, area throughout his childhood, and performed in numerous Oneonta High School and Orpheus productions.

He went on to become known for his roles as Pilate in the touring Jesus Christ Superstar and the original Simba in The Lion King on Broadway.

He also hosted an environment-friendly TV program, "Keeping It Wild With Jason Raize."
