Classic Arts News Lige Philharmonic Names Music Director Pascal Roph_ will replace Louis Langr_e as music director of the Orchestre philharmonique de Lige in September 2006, the Belgian orchestra announced.
Langr_e, who has led the orchestra since 2001, will not renew his contract, which expires next year, for "personal reasons," according to a statement. Langr_e has served as the music director of the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra in New York since 2003.

Roph_, a 44-year-old Frenchman, is a frequent guest conductor for the London Symphony, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, and Orchestre national de France, and has led the OPL several times since 2000. In 2002, he recorded works by Thierry Escaich with the ensemble.
