Running Nov. 12-15 at the Public Theater, the free festival presents readings of new works as well as panel discussions and concerts from Native theatre makers.

Jacquelyn Pualani Johnson, Felicity Jones and Elisabeth Waterston will appear in a reading of Victoria Nalani Kneubuhl's Hawaii-set The Conversion of Ka'Ahumanu Nov. 13 at 8 PM. The work "explores the complex relationships amongst Christian missionaries and indigenous women forty years after the islands' first contact with the West," according to press notes. Kneubuhl will take part in a post-show discussion about contemporary Native playwrighting.

The following evening, Alanis King will direct James Fall, Gary Farmer, Cara Gee, Cody Lightning, Ryan Victor Pierce, Tamara Podemski, Chaske Spencer and Sheila Tousey in Chasing Honey. "With her loving father serving in Afghanistan and her drug-addicted mother coming back into her life, Sandy turns to Len, keeper of a struggling bee colony and new member of her college's Native American Studies Club," according to press notes for Laura Shamas' play, which will be presented Nov. 14 at 8 PM.

Leigh Silverman (Well) will direct a reading of Eric Gansworth's Re-creation Story Nov. 15 at 8 PM. The reading will feature Avia Bushyhead, Dylan Carusona, Joe Cross, Billy Merasty, Monique Mojica, Kim Rosen and Michelle St. John. The work is described as a playful personal exploration of the Haudenosaunee creation narrative. Gansworth will take part in a post-show discussion, "Bringing Oral Tradition to the Stage," with special guests Leigh Silverman, Daniel David Moses (playwright) and Edward Wemytewa (playwright/performer).
