Tony winner Lillias White, who can currently be seen Off-Broadway in the world premiere of the new musical Black No More, will offer two different concerts at London's Crazy Coqs in April.
The Broadway favorite, also recently seen as Matron "Mama" Morton in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago, will perform shows paying tribute to Broadway and composer Hoagy Carmichael ("Stardust," "Georgia on My Mind," "The Nearness of You"). Both programs will feature Billy Stritch (42nd Street) on piano.
Lillias White Sings Broadway will be presented April 14, 16, 19, 21, and 23, with a live stream available April 16; and Hoagy Carmichael & Friends will be offered April 15, 18, 20, and 22, and streamed live April 20. Stritch will also go it solo at the London venue April 14 and 18.
White won a Tony for her performance as Sonja in Cy Coleman’s The Life. She was also Tony-nominated for her work as Funmilayo in Fela!. Her other Broadway credits include Barnum, Dreamgirls, Cats, Carrie, Once On This Island, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Chicago. She received a Daytime Emmy as part of the cast of Sesame Street; her other screen credits include Pieces of April and Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down. White’s first solo studio album, Get Yourself Some Happy!, was released in July 2021 via Old Mill Road Recording.
The performances are part of White's full concert schedule, which also includes a performance at White Plains Performing Arts Center February 26.
