Lin-Manuel Miranda Describes the Gaffe He Made On His First TV Acting Job | Playbill

Video Lin-Manuel Miranda Describes the Gaffe He Made On His First TV Acting Job Before he was famous, the Tony and Pulitzer winner made his screen debut on The Sopranos.

Ahead of the nationwide release of Mary Poppins Returns, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who stars as lamplighter Jack in the original movie musical, visited Live With Kelly and Ryan.

Host Kelly Ripa brought up his first-ever television role: an under-five-line part on The Sopranos. “It's funny, because it'll pop up on re-runs and people are like, ‘Wow, you made a cameo on The Sopranos!’ No no—when you are a substitute teacher and this is your first job, it's just a job. It's only when you're famous that it's retroactively a cameo.

“So here's how green an actor I am in that scene,” Miranda continued. “I am so green you can see me look down for my mark.”

Miranda also spoke about bringing Hamilton to Puerto Rico, beginning performances January 8, 2019. This marks the launch of the third national tour of Hamilton, where Miranda reprises his role as Alexander Hamilton. And, of course, he also talks holding office hours on Twitter and turning his affirmations into a book.
