News Lin-Manuel Miranda Hopes to Film Broadway's Hamilton With Current Cast Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the critically acclaimed new musical Hamilton, hopes to film the Broadway production with its current cast, according to a Tweet posted by the Tony-winning composer Oct. 5.

Miranda's Tweet clarified a posting on Vulture.com in which the composer-lyricist reportedly said the production would be filmed before June 2016, adding, "You-couldn't-make-it-up filmmakers have been coming to the show…I have talked to producers about filming this cast before this cast moves on."

The aforementioned follow-up Tweet reads, "I said we WANT to film the show with this cast before the year is out. That's all I said."

Miranda also explained via Twitter, "When I announce stuff for real I PROMISE you'll know first. I am grateful for your enthusiasm because my god how lucky we are."

 

The new musical by Tony Award-winning In the Heights star and creator Miranda explores the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, the musical incorporates historical figures such as George Washington, Aaron Burr, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.

The new musical plays the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
