Classic Arts News Lincoln Center's Free Outdoor Wi-Fi Goes Live - And There's a Sweepstakes to Celebrate As Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing 2007 opens tonight with a battle of the swing bands on Josie Robertson Plaza, the complex itself is kicking off a brand new program. Beginning today, in cooperation with Nokia Siemens Networks, free wireless access is available in all outdoor areas of the Lincoln Center campus.
All wireless devices compatible with the 802.11b/g wi-fi standard, including laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Web-enabled cell phones, will have high-speed Internet access in Josie Robertson Plaza, Damrosch Park and the North Plaza by the Reflecting Pool.

"One of the goals of Lincoln Center's transformation projects is to encourage visitors to our campus to come earlier and linger longer, both before and after performances," commented Lincoln Center President Reynold Levy in a statement released yesterday.

To celebrate the rollout of this service, Lincoln Center is holding a Wi-Fi Launch Sweepstakes from now through the end of Midsummer Night Swing on July 21. Prizes include a Nokia Internet Tablet N800 and four tickets to the August 16 of Mozart Dances by the Mark Morris Dance Group at the Mostly Mozart Festival. Entry into the sweepstakes is automatic by logging onto Lincoln Center's wi-fi network from any compatible device; for details and rules, visit www.lincolncenter.org/wifi.
