News Linda Balgord to Star in NYMF Production of Crossing Swords, New Musical About Cyrano de Bergerac Linda Balgord will be featured in Crossing Swords, which begins performances July 22 at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center as part of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF).

Directed by Igor Goldin, the cast also features Ali Gordon (Fiddler on the Roof; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Steven Hauck (Irena's Vow), Lyle Colby Mackston (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and Marrick Smith (Love's Labour's Lost).

"When the boys of St. Mark's join the girls of St. Anne's to present Cyrano de Bergerac, three friends get more of an education than they bargained for," press notes state. "Love blossoms, jealousies flare and secrets are revealed that may end their youthful innocence as life imitates art in this funny and poignant coming-of-age story."

Crossing Swords features a book, music and lyrics by Joe Slabe and is presented by Forte Musical Theatre Guild and The New York Musical Theatre Festival.

The creative team for Crossing Swords includes Micah Young (music director), Trey Compton (fight director/assistant director), Karl Hinze (assistant musical director/web designer), Daniel Jagendorf (technical director), Josh Zangen (scenic designer), Zach Blane (lighting designer), Amy Pedigo-Otto (costume designer), Naomi Anhorn (stage manager), Alyson Cermak (assistant stage manager), Suellen Vance (general manager), Seth Walters (photographer) and Michael Cassara, CSA (casting).

Performances are offered July 22 at 9 PM Tuesday, July 23 at 1 PM, July 24 at 9 PM, July 27 at 9 PM and July 28 at 1 PM. NYMF is the flagship program of The National Music Theater Network. Now entering its tenth year, The New York Musical Theatre Festival exists to "revitalize musical theatre culture by discovering and promoting new musical theatre artists, producers and projects; nurturing a vibrant and innovative artistic community; and connecting one of America's greatest art forms with a diverse, contemporary audience."
