Linda Eder, Broadway star of Jekyll & Hyde and muse to her husband-composer Frank Wildhorn, will perform a solo concert Oct. 19 at Houston's Aerial Theater, taking a break (on her day off) ) from the world premiere of The Civil War at Houston's Alley Theatre. The 7:30 PM performance, a benefit for the Alley, will feature Eder singing songs from her new album, "It's Time," plus Wildhorn songs she made famous in Broadway's Jekyll & Hyde.

Eder continues in The Civil War, by Wildhorn, Alley artistic director Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy, through Nov. 1 at the Alley. Eder is a Houston favorite, having performed popular New Year's Eve concerts in 1991, 1993 and 1995. She made her theatrical debut at the Alley in the world premiere of Jekyll & Hyde in 1990, and starred in Wildhorn's Svengali, written for her, at the Alley in 1991. Wildhorn reportedly wrote the new musical, Havana, with Eder in mind, as well.

A recast and restaged version of The Civil War, to be directed in 1999 by Jerry Zaks,will begin Broadway previews March 23 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. It is not yet clear if Eder will be involved in the docu musical, drawn from real-life stories of the American Civil War. Concert tickets are $25-$125.
