Cakewalk, the play based on author Peter Feibleman's relationship with writer Lillian Hellman, is set to star Linda Lavin and Michael Knight, as the story's two principals. Cakewalk will preview at off Broadway's Variety Arts Theatre, the same theatre where Lavin triumphed in Death Defying Acts, on October 4 with the opening date scheduled for October 20.
Knight is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his work on "All My Children." Marshall Mason will direct the play about a young man and an older woman (some 20-odd years older) who move into each others lives.
Academy Award winner Carly Simon, composer of hits such as "Anticipation" and "Let the River Run," will provide original music
Prior to its New York engagement, Cakewalk will play the Roger L. Stevens Center In Winston-Salem, NC Sept. 17-29.
