Lion King Goes High-Tech, Launches 360-Degree Video of "Circle of Life" | Playbill

News Lion King Goes High-Tech, Launches 360-Degree Video of "Circle of Life" Fans of Broadway's The Lion King are able to experience the opening number, "Circle of Life," the way only the actors have been able to do until now — in a 360-degree view from the middle of the action.

The number, which was posted on the web the morning of Nov. 18, was shot using virtual-reality technology, marking what producer Disney Theatrical said is the first time the technology has been used inside a Broadway theatre. The claim set off a gentlemanly war of words between Thomas Schumacher of Disney and Andrew Lloyd Webber, composer of School of Rock.
