News Lion King Reigns for Longer in West End The Disney stage spectacular, The Lion King, has just announced a further three-month booking period from July 1 to Sept. 28, 2003. Tickets go on sale to individuals beginning Feb. 17.

Very much a family musical, it features songs by Old Vic Chairman Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice, and magically re-creates the vast plains of Africa, teeming with animal life, on stage. Partially modelled on the story of Hamlet, this is a Disney creation that made the transition from screen (and a cartoon at that) to stage and set the scene for Disney becoming a major player on Broadway.
