News Lion King Tour to Begin in Denver in Spring 2002 The Lion King, the hit musical which has conquered both coasts, will now canvas the middle of the country. A tour of the United States will begin in spring 2002. The first stop will be Denver's Buell Theatre.

The Lion King, the hit musical which has conquered both coasts, will now canvas the middle of the country. A tour of the United States will begin in spring 2002. The first stop will be Denver's Buell Theatre.

The Lion King is currently playing on Broadway and in Los Angeles. The L.A. mounting opened Oct. 19 of this year at the Pantages Theatre. The New York production won the Tony Award for best musical.

No additional dates or cities have been announced. The show tried out in Minneapolis before coming to New York.

Julie Taymor directed the stage version of the animated film, both of which were scored by Elton John and Tim Rice, with additional musical material by South African Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Taymor.
