News Listen to Meryl Streep Sing "Drift Away" in "Ricki and the Flash" In her new film "Ricki and the Flash," opening in theatres Aug. 7, Oscar winner Meryl Streep stars as the lead singer and guitarist of a rock band who is trying to make amends with her family and piece her career back together. USA Today has released an audio clip of Streep covering the 1973 Dobie Gray smash "Drift Away" from the movie.

Directed by Jonathan Demme from a script by Diablo Cody, the cast features Sebastian Stan, Streep and Kevin Kline as well as Audra McDonald and Streep's real-life daughter, Mamie Gummer.
