News Little Shop of Horrors Opens for Business at the Engeman Oct. 4 Little Shop of Horrors, starring Josh Lamon and Gina Milo, officially opens at Long Island's Engeman Theatre Oct. 4.

The popular Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical about a nerdy guy, the flighty December bride of his dreams and a blood-thirsty plant from outerspace is directed and choreographed by Stephen DeAngelis.

Lamon (Wicked) portrays Seymour opposite Milo (Les Miserables) as Audrey in the production, which began previews Oct. 2. Performances continue through Nov. 9.

The Little Shop company also features Bob Arnold (The Producers) as Mushnik, Christian Whelan (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as Orin, Lakisha Anne Bowen as Chiffon, Melinda Wakefield Alberty as Ronnette, Kristal Joy Brown as Crystal and Maxx as the voice of Audrey II. Bill Remington inhabits the flesh-eating plant from outer space. The cast also includes Missy Dowse, Jade Hicks, and Craig Sculli.

Designing the skid row world of Little Shop are Court Watson (scenic design), Tricia Barsamian (costume design), Joel E. Silver (lighting design), Bridget O'Connor (sound design), Mark Adam Rampmeyer (hair and wig design) and Sonoka Fukuma Gozelski (prop design). Donny Jones serves as musical director.

Little Shop of Horrors is based on the 1960 cult movie "The Little Shop of Horrors." The musical version, with music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, debuted Off-Broadway at WPA Theatre in 1982 starring Lee Wilkoff and Ellen Greene in a role that would become her signature.
