This is the third concert in a series featuring emerging songwriters. It plays The Triad on New York's Upper West Side, 158 W. 72nd St. Admission is a jar of change.
The August ArtCents Benefit Concert, which featured the music of Ryan Cunningham and Joshua Salzman, raised more than $1,000 in change.
Julie Foldesi has been on Broadway in Little Women, The Musical and The Full Monty, as well as numerous tours and Off-Broadway productions. She began writing music several years ago, and formed her band in 2004. She is working on her debut album this year.
The concert features accompaniment by Cary Scope (guitar/percussion), Jordan Jancz (bass), Nat Russell (lead guitar) and Lori Eure (percussion).
Foldesi graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in Opera Performance, and though she never seems to use that vocal style, the music theory has come in very handy lately. Her songwriting has been compared to artists such as Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, Dixie Chicks, Jewel and more. For more information, visit www.juliefoldesi.com.

Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) is a non-profit organization which mobilizes the global community of artists to create positive change for young people in need worldwide. Built on the foundation of Art-in-Action, ASTEP hosts experience programs in which teaching artists immerse themselves into poverty-stricken communities to educate youth on issues ranging from racism to AIDS awareness to personal hygiene through the universal language of art.
ArtCents is the primary fundraising effort to support the ASTEP Arts-In-Action Experiences. For the month of August, ASTEP asks working arts professionals on and Off Broadway — including the companies of Altar Boyz, Jersey Boys, Sweeney Todd, The Wedding Singer, the Juilliard School, Cargenie Hall and the Urban Bush Women Dance Company — to deposit spare their change in donation to ASTEP.
