Liza's back, and the Beacon's got her!

That is, Academy Award winner Liza Minnelli will perform seven concerts at New York's Beacon Theatre beginning May 31. Produced and directed by Minnelli's new husband, David Gest, Liza's Back! will premiere at the famed Beacon Theatre on May 31 and will play June 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 an 8. The New York engagement follows a critically hailed run at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The evenings will feature new material by longtime Minnelli friends John Kander and Fred Ebb — of Chicago and Cabaret fame — and choreography will be supplied by Brian Thomas. Fans of the Tony-winning star of Flora, the Red Menace and The Act can expect the actress singer-dancer to belt out several of her signature hits, including "Cabaret" and "New York, New York," as well as the new Kander-Ebb tunes "Liza's Back!" and "Don't Smoke in Bed." Minnelli will also perform a new version of "Liza With a 'Z'."

Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 29 at 9 AM and can be purchased by calling either the Beacon Theatre box office at (212) 496-7070 or Ticketmaster at (212) 307-7171; tickets can also be obtained by logging on to www.cc.com. The Beacon Theatre is located in New York City at Broadway and 74th Street.

The Oscar-winning star of Cabaret was last on Broadway in a tribute to her late father entitled Minnelli on Minnelli, which she then took on a tour that was cut short due to poor health. In addition to her Tonys for Flora and Act, Minnelli was awarded a special Tony in 1974 for "adding lustre to the Broadway season." Her film credits include "The Sterile Cuckoo," "Arthur," "New York, New York" and "Stepping Out." The singer actress is also a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress. —By Andrew Gans
