Broadway veteran Lizbeth Mackay stars as Grace in Brian Friel's three-person drama, Faith Healer, July 14-Aug. 25 on the Casius Carter Centre Stage. Seret Scott (Globe's Crumbs from the Table of Joy, The Joy Luck Club) directs.
Mackay won the Theatre World Award for her Broadway debut in Crimes of the Heart. She went on to star in Death and the Madien, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, The Heiress and most recently in The Price. In Faith Healer, she plays Grace, wife of "Fantastic" Francis Hardy, a part con-man, part artist who travels the country healing believers' afflictions.
Michael Rudko is Frank, who wavers between deriding his "act" and believing in it with Tim Donoghue as Teddy, his manager. All three character reveal their deepest secrets in a series of three monologues.
Friel is the author of the 1992 Tony-winning Dancing at Lughnasa, Philadelphia, Here I Come! and Wonderful Tennessee.
