The Post reports that Guettel, who won his Tony for his score to The Light in the Piazza, will compose the music for the Broadway show that the composer (to be played by Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz) is writing in the new series.

The pilot is scheduled to film on location in New York for a debut in early 2011. As previously reported, Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow will direct, and theatre favorites Frank Langella, Patti LuPone, Eddie Redmayne, Hope Davis and Stark Sands will be part of the cast.

The Post also reports that another Broadway-related pilot is moving forward in its development. Playwright Theresa Rebeck (The Understudy, Mauritius, The Scene) has turned in her script for "Smash," which charts the out-of-town tryout of a Broadway-bound musical. The pilot will be produced by Showtime.
