A visiting American production in London has been delayed due to the devastating terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

Stage One, which celebrates new writing, opened Sept. 11 September, the day of the assaults, at the Battersea Arts Centre. However, since all flights in the United States were canceled, many participants of the transatlantic festival were unable to fly out of New York in time. If the flight situation changes, some performers could make it at some point during the two-week long festival.

Spokeswoman Alex Gammie said: "We are waiting to see what happens today regarding transport to and from New York, as we are expecting 8 or 10 people over the next few days who may not be able to make it."

There are many Americans already in London who are able to be part of Stage One. The program of workshops, readings and plays will probably go on, despite the delay, with the other American and English performers doing their best to compensate for missing performers.
