Go-go dancers will perform in a central "tiger cage" among the roulette and blackjack tables. The routines will be choreographed by burlesque diva Miss Polly Rae, who has previously had two West End runs with The Hurly Burly Show at the Garrick Theatre in 2011 and the Duchess in 2012.
Customers will be able to view the performances just feet from the tables. In a press statement, Hippodrome owner Simon Thomas commented, "It’s a first for the UK. Once again the team behind the Hippodrome Casino will show how casinos can be must-go venues where gambling and entertainment can sit side by side. Usually on a casino floor half the people are watching other gamblers or thinking about their next play. We’re now giving our customers something to watch and enjoy in the meantime."
The new space has been created out of a warren of tunnels and rooms that were the backstage home to performers, animal trainers, scene shifters and theatre management in the venue's former life. It is named after Lola McGuire, a chorus girl who appeared in the former theatre's very first show in 1900. She was famous in her day for organizing illicit card games and drinking parties.
Opening hours are 6 PM-6 AM with dance performances running from 8 PM-2 AM.
