The West End production of The Who's Tommy has announced that it will close in early February despite being nominated for eight Olivier Awards Jan. 19. The show opened May 3, 1996 and has been playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre, but the show's current star, Paul Keating, was quoted by Reuters news service as saying "...it has been a bit of a battle to keep it going.
The Olivier Awards are scheduled to be bestowed Feb. 16.

John-Andrew Morrison is reprising his Tony-nominated performance in the Michael R. Jackson musical at American Conservatory Theater.
The new musical explores the Women's Suffrage movement's victories and failures with a book, music and lyrics by Shaina Taub.
Adapted and directed by Emma Rice, the Wise Children and RSC co-production plays the Swan.
The production played an earlier run via Ustinov Studio and Theatre Royal Bath.
The Tony nominee is playing slick lawyer Billy Flynn in the John Kander-Fred Ebb-Bob Fosse musical.
