International News Londoners, Prepare to Get Shucked

The nine-time Tony-nominated musical has announced a trip to the West End.

Cast of Shucked Mathew Murphy and Evan Zimmerman

Shucked is going to take a big trip and bring Cobb County to London's West End in 2024. Currently playing Broadway's Nederlander Theatre, the 2023 Best Musical Tony nominee is up for nine Tony Awards this season.

U.K. producer and theatre owner Cameron Mackintosh said in a statement, “I’m delighted to confirm that London is going to get Shucked in one of my theatres next year! Shucked is that rarity: a completely original musical and the funniest show since The Book of Mormon, with a terrifically tuneful rollicking country and western score. It’s snuck up on Broadway and is proving to be the most talked about hit of the season. The corn at the heart of Shucked will have you husky with limitless laughter!”

The "farm-to-fable" musical takes place in Cobb County where the population is small and the corn fields are endless, following its residents as they work to fix their failing corn crop. But don't pay too much attention to that—it's come for the story, stay for the corn puns at Shucked. Casting, theatre, tickets, and other information for the West End run will be announced over the next few months.

Shucked opened on Broadway April 4 after beginning previews March 8. The new musical features a book by Robert Horn and a score by Grammy-winning Nashville-based duo Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Jack O'Brien directs the production, which also features music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jason Howland. All five are nominated in their respective categories for the 2023 Tony Awards.

Also on the creative team are choreographer Sarah O'Gleby, 2023 Tony-nominated scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Tilly Grimes, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, 2023 Tony-nominated sound designer John Shivers, and wig designer Mia Neal. John Miller is the music coordinator while Billy Jay Stein and Hiro Iida of Strange Cranium designed the electronic music.

Kelley as Storyteller 1, and Grey Henson as Storyteller 2. They're joined by an ensemble comprising Jimmy Brewer, Audrey Cardwell, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Quinn VanAntwerp, rounded out by swings Miki Abraham, Ken Wulf Clark, Traci Elaine Lee, and Alan Wiggins. Casting for the London bow is to be announced.
